Having fun wheeling his chair in our living-room here. The chair he is in now is specially customized to meet his needs. It has the rib cage support and a headrest and the extended wheelchair cushion – basically it implements all the wishes that Sasha expressed at the Mckay Rehab center.
We have been accompanied by Kathleen Montpetit at the Mckay Center. She has been playing one of the major roles in Sasha’s treatment at the Shriner’s Hospital in Montreal. Kathleen is an occupational therapy specialist at the hospital, who has been treating Sasha exceptionally as well as the other doctors at the hospital did.
The whole procedure of fitting and customizing the wheelchair took a couple of hours. We were all having fun watching Sasha’s reaction to different suggestions of Dave and Pascal – the guys who were adapting the wheelchair for Sasha. He had much fun in wheeling the chair along the corridor so fast, that we could hardly catch up with him trying to ask if he is comfortable in it
On our way back to Brockville we stopped for lunch. Bruce Weston and Ron Warren – the Shriners who accompanied us there – were exceptional with Sasha and his mom joking and telling them funny stories. Sasha enjoyed a big chicken burger with French fries and a big ice cream to follow whereas Lena found chicken wings yummy
Bruce Weston found out that Sasha loves Maple Syrup on his pancakes and invited all of us for a breakfast to Pancake’s House on Saturday morning. We are all looking forward to that and Lena is eager to taste the canadian pancakes and compare them to the ones she is used to cook
